I was born in Malawi, Africa, but I have lived in Champaign-Urbana for more than 30 years! I completed my early education in Urbana, then attended an international boarding school in Kasungu, Malawi for my secondary education. This was an experience that truly shaped who I am today. It was there that I developed a strong sense of independence, discipline, and adaptability that continues to guide me both personally and professionally.
After completing my IGCSEs, I moved back to the U.S. with my, then-boyfriend, now husband. I was introduced to the world of Real Estate - specifically Student Housing, in 2009 , while working as a Leasing Consultant and earning my bachelor’s degree. It immediately clicked! I had a natural ability for sales and relationship-building within the community, leasing came effortlessly, and year after year I successfully leased my properties.
In 2016, after six years with my previous employer, my husband and I took a leap of faith and launched our own investment and property management firm. Since then, we have managed over 20 communities, in 14 states, creating homes for 25,000+ students. Now, more than a decade later, I consider myself a seasoned investor and property management professional with extensive experience overseeing both residential and student housing portfolios. In 2021, I purchased my first single family investment property and discovered a passion for running a short-term rental business, leveraging my industry knowledge and sales expertise to keep units occupied. This has grown steadily and granted me a unique perspective of the housing market in Champaign.
Some may see this as a flaw but I’m proudly meticulous and hands-on! I take great pride in running properties efficiently while maintaining high standards of service, compliance, and long-term asset value.
Outside of work, I’m a proud mom to two boys, and spending time with my family is my greatest joy. I love fashion, food and traveling! I make it a priority to visit Malawi every two years. I also try to squeeze in at least one island trip a year - the first island I ever visited was Jamaica, Bora Bora was the most beautiful but Barbados is the most special. Because I was born on Valentine’s Day, February will always be my favorite month of the year, even though I’m a true summer lover!
